The Do's & Don'ts Of Taking Care Of Your Tile & Grout

Keep your floors looking great with just a few simple steps.

1. Do wipe away dirt.

Clean your tile and grout regularly wiping away dirt, dust, and other debris. A little bit of maintenance today can save you a big headache tomorrow!

2. Do use a gentle cleaner.

Ensure your surfaces are cleaned with a mild substance, such as a neutral PH cleaner! Steer clear of strong chemicals (unless doing a restorative cleaning); opt for something more gentle.

3. Do use the proper brush.

Keep the grout in tip-top condition with a stiff-bristled brush or purpose-built cleaning tool. Put just a little elbow grease into it and watch your tiled surfaces sparkle!

4. Do dry your floor.

To preserve a streak-free finish on your flooring, be sure to take the time for thorough drying with either a clean towel or mop. Just put an old towel under your foot and dry your floor. It’s that easy!

5. Do use floor mats.

They are more than just an aesthetic feature - they serve a functional purpose by trapping dirt and moisture while adding to your space's inviting atmosphere. Plus, you're left with the perfect first impression as soon as guests step inside!

1. Don't use a steam mop.

Regular cleaning of tile grout lines is essential for maintaining good hygiene, but steam mops should be avoided as the intense heat and moisture can gradually fade their color, cause cracking or make them brittle.

2. Don't use abrasive tools.

To maintain the condition of your tile, refrain from using abrasive cleaning tools such as steel wool or scouring pads. These materials can cause small scratches and compromises to the surface that you may not be able to fix down the line.

3. Don't use bleach.

Avoid harsh chemical cleaners as they can cause discoloration to delicate grout and even damage the tile. Bleach and toilet bowl cleaner may seem like a good idea to get rid of stubborn stains, but using it can cause discoloring and harm your tile. It's best to use gentle cleansers that won't damage the grout or tile surfaces in the long run!

4. Don't fall behind.

Keep on top of dirt and grime to avoid a deep clean. A few simple steps can make the difference - spray your preferred cleaning solution directly onto stained surfaces for an extra boost, then follow up with light scrubbing using a stiff bristle brush. Staying ahead is key to effortlessly maintaining pristine spaces!

5. Don't forget to dry.

Neglecting to dry the floor after cleaning can be disastrous; any trapped water will flow back into grout lines, leaving residue behind once it evaporates. Make sure your surface is thoroughly dried for a spotless finish.
